Reiki - A Balancing ActConsider just one turn of the pedals. This act requires the coordination of billions of cells. These cells have to communicate simultaneously and rapidly! Scientists are finding that cells speak to each other using electric fields that transmit signals from inside and outside of the body. Your bones and ligaments are semiconductors! Like the cable to the Internet, and the power cord to the computer, both information and energy are being transmitted. Further, quantum physics has found that the teeming field of energy within our cells is responsive to our intention and beliefs. This is why we hear so much about the mind, body, and spirit connection. Traditional western medicine is understanding that our health and performance is dependent on the nature of these signals. Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a healing modality begun in Japan years ago that is based on this life force energy.
Reiki assumes that for optimal health, all parts of us (body, mind, spirit) need to be in balance and open to
the flow of this essential Life Energy. We may think we need relief from a physical symptom, but the cause may be due to an imbalance in an emotional or mental layer of self. When the flow of the energy signal is weakened, disrupted or blocked, we can experience emotional and physical problems. Imbalances can result from previous trauma, emotional issues, injury, toxins, or even grooves of negative thinking.
Reiki practitioners learn to become “human antennas” -holding positions gently on or above the body with their hands to open up any blocked or rigid areas and balance the energy. This, in turn, stimulates the body to allow its natural healing process- sending those signals unimpeded. Reiki is healing, energizing, balancing and stress-relieving as it affects body, mind and spirit. It is a deeply relaxing experience. And it works best when the recipient is in a proactive role, seeking healing and transformation (remember those cells being responsive to intention!). The best part of a Reiki treatment is that the recipient’s job is to just soak in the calming energy.
We’re all in need of healing on some level. My experience as a Master Practitioner has shown Reiki to be instrumental in the relief of sleeplessness, restless leg, shoulder pain, back pain, knee pain, stomach problems, dizziness, neck pain, migraines, the effects of chemo, the stress of work, divorce, and important life events. It also helps asthma-respiratory problems and strengthens the immune system. It treats both symptoms and causes of illness. All naturally! (Note: Reiki is not a substitute for traditional medical care. It works as a complement to it, and is a way to become and remain healthy.)
So the next time your body (knee hurts?), mind (struggling?) or spirit (not having the best time?) isn’t quite what you’d like it to be, consider Reiki to regain your balance and improve your life.
